Qigong
Qigong
Qigong is the ancient art of rhythmic breathing, coordinated with slow movements, and calming meditation, much like Pranayama. Influenced by Daoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism, this 4000-year-old practice gained popularity because of its benefits like preventive medicine, self-improvement,spiritual awakening, exercise as well as recreation. Qigong can be practiced as dynamic, static, meditative, or in interaction with environmental agents. The results of practicing Qigong are equanimity and tranquility, both aimed effectively at combating many issues, for example – stress.
The famous Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Professor at Columbia University, and American television personality Dr.Mehmut Oz once said “If you want to be healthy and live to one hundred, do Qigong”. Also, not to forget, the popular quote by Confucius himself, who is a pioneer of Taichi and Qigong, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”.
Qigong is promised to bring out your deepest passions, reduce anger, and be one with the environment. The eyes, considered as the gateway to the soul, would guide the spirit, the body, and body fluids in rhythm to control the Self and, later, our environment. Similar practices to Qigong, called Neigong, is also taught here at SatSvayam Holistic Wellness Center.
